DFW Student Arrival & Living Guide
A practical orientation layer for students considering DallasβFort Worth. This is not a substitute for university instructions; it helps students understand how large and different the DFW locations can be.
βοΈ Arriving at DFW Airport
DFW Airport has public rail connections in Terminals A and B, rental cars, rideshare and other ground transportation. Students should confirm the destination campus before choosing transportation because DFW is geographically large.
Official DFW transportation βπ Dallas / Richardson
DART serves much of Dallas and nearby cities. Transit usefulness depends heavily on the exact apartment and campus location, so ACP recommends checking a real trip before signing a lease.
Official DART βπ Dallas College
Dallas College says all campuses are served by DART and qualified students can receive a free Student GoPass. Two campuses have especially direct rail access: North Lake and El Centro.
Dallas College GoPass βπ UT Arlington
UTA offers free campus shuttles and discounted Arlington Via rides. Via can connect to CentrePort TRE for travel toward Dallas, Fort Worth and DFW Airport.
UTA transportation βπ UNT / Denton
UNT students can ride DCTA buses at no extra cost with a student ID. Denton is north of the Dallas core, so commute assumptions from Richardson or Dallas do not transfer directly.
UNT transportation βπ Housing Research
Do not choose housing by rent alone. Compare distance to the actual campus, transit availability, utilities, lease length, roommates, deposits, grocery access and commute time at the hours you will attend class.
π₯ Food & Halal Research
DFW has diverse grocery and restaurant communities, but ACP should verify specific businesses before recommending them. University dining should be checked directly for current halal or dietary accommodations.
π± First-week Setup
Plan phone service, banking options, university ID, transportation app, campus orientation, emergency contacts and health-insurance requirements before classes become busy.
π F-1 Questions
Use your university DSO and official U.S. government sources for immigration status, employment authorization, CPT/OPT and visa questions. ACP provides educational orientation only.
